About Us

The Me’dil Institute was chartered by the Hoopa Valley Tribe in 2007 as a charitable organization whose nonprofit status was confirmed by the IRS with the issuance of a 501(c)(3) letter on January 12, 2008.

The Institute is governed by a five member Board of Directors.

Our activities are grass roots. They are values based and thus relevant to all of Indian Country, however, our efforts focus on traditional practices of tribes in California, in particular northern California. We focus on taking advantage of modern technology to document and transmit traditional knowledge that promotes continuation of land based cultural practices that reinforce balanced, harmonious and respectful life ways.
